Dr & Mrs King are renovating their farmhouse, preserving a wide array of traditional features, blended with the newer part of the house boasting large windows to take in the magnificent views. The renovation project has also seen the King’s adopt modern technologies, such as their 24 x 300W solar array and a 9kWh home battery.
“Our Everhot suits our ethos and our lifestyle.“, says Dr King, who is currently reaping the rewards of using their solar array to power their home. In fact, the King’s solar array has been set up with the panels facing in different directions to maximise their solar yield. This is already paying dividends, with month-on-month bills dropping from £140 in May, to less than £50 in June – and that includes running their Everhot 90i.
Renewable Energy
With their solar array, and the addition of a home battery, Dr & Mrs King benefit from charging their battery overnight when the electricity prices are lower, which has led to significant savings. And that is before you take into account the power being generated by the solar panels, with excess power generated through solar topping up the battery throughout the day, too.
The diagram and graph below show how the solar power being generated is consumed by the property, with any excess diverted to the battery. The battery also powers the home.
In addition to maximising the solar generation to charge their home battery, the King’s also have a Solar iBoost controller. This diverts energy to their hot water tank delivering further cost savings and efficiencies.
